The Bundaberg showroom of Australia’s top selling car brand, Toyota, is expecting significant energy savings to flow
from its recent commissioning of a breakthrough new “Energy Maximiser” demand management smart system from
In conjunction with Navigation One Project management, the brief to Auzion was to establish a user-friendly power
usage interface enabling the Toyota team to proactively manage power usage for air conditioning, mechanical
ventilation, showroom lighting and power, office usage and electric signage at the state-of-the-art modern dealership.
The smartphone and tablet computer App has been customised enabling Toyota to leverage the Auzion Energy
Maximiser as a marketing tool, with video featuring the history of the dealership and Toyota Australia’s commitment to
improving environmental outcomes in partnership with its dealers.
After installation of the Energy Maximiser at Bundaberg Toyota the following was
identified. Current operating business hours are 9am – 5pm. The AC starts up at 6:20
am and runs to 7:30pm. If the run time was reduced and started at 8am and shut down
at 6pm everyday this would reduce overall consumption by 104.87kWh per day in AC.
Or $7655.51 per annum. This is one example of savings identified by installing the EM.
So impressed is the Toyota dealership with the system, it’s allowing the power usage data to be displayed on tablet
screens in the showrooms for customers. “One of the computer tablets is fixed to the showroom’s merchandise wall
and another is unplugged enabling customers to experience the system and see how we’re cutting electricity usage
Since Auzion’s Energy Maximiser is such an easy but potentially very significant way for us to not only cut our
electricity costs but diminish our impact on the environment, we are now sharing the knowledge of system with our
customers, some of whom will no doubt wish to have one installed too,” representing manager at Bundaberg Toyota.
Toyota Australia is monitoring the initiative ahead of determining the extent to which other dealers around the nation
may be encouraged to also explore the cost-saving benefits of Auzion’s Energy Maximiser system.
In addition to targeting energy savings for businesses, for whom sharply rising electricity costs represent a significant
on-going burden, Auzion also hopes to introduce the low-cost Energy Maximiser to Australia’s millions of home
owners as a means of achieving up to 20% cost savings off their quarterly electricity bills – potentially in partnership
with the Federal Government.
“Whether a Toyota dealership or a fast food outlet, or one of the hundreds of homes already deriving significant cost
savings from the system, the break-through here is that the Energy Maximiser is putting power over energy usage
back into the hands of those faced with paying the bills, meaning they can cut waste and opt-out of the massive
sporadic price hikes they’d otherwise be slugged for. “ We’re very proud of the system and believe it has phenomenal
potential,” says Mark Leckenby, CEO of Auzion.
